Hello all, I was just wondering what would be the best way to go about putting a strategy to the test against real markets? I would prefer to use a broker that doesnt charge a monthly fee, thanks! I'm looking forward to really diving down the rabbit hole and getting some solid strategies going

If you live in EU maybe Multicharts together with Saxo Bank?

That way you don’t have to mess with American W8 forms and tax authorities.

Tradestation Global could be another option, it uses Interactivebrokers based in the UK and have a special version of Tradestation that connects to Interactivebroker's TWS so it can feed all the historical and realtime datafeed from TWS as well as place trades from Tradestation that are routed to TWS for exectuion with Interactivebrokers. It runs Tradestation 9.5 and can run all Tradesation ELD's and easylanguage code you can come up with. They also include Radarscreen as well. Have no platform fees and no maintenance fees. Just pay for the datafeed.

Search for "tradestation international" or "tradestation global" in google and you will find it.

@alk Wouldn't access to Tradestation 9.5 allow you to use easy language, which would then allow you to automate trading?

@pg I think tax is related to your residency.

If you live more than 183 days in one particular place it automatically becomes your tax residency. Therefore if you live in EU say, Ireland you need to pay your taxes in Ireland.

Of course I am not a tax advisor I am talking from my experience.
